Predicting the Premier League's top 6

With the Premier League run-in slated to kickoff Saturday following a busy international break, theScore's football team takes a look at the likely final standings of the top six sides fighting for both the title and a coveted continental berth.
Current Table
Team | Matches Played | Wins | Draws | Losses | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Leicester | 31 | 19 | 9 | 3 | 66 |
Tottenham | 31 | 17 | 10 | 4 | 61 |
Arsenal | 30 | 16 | 7 | 7 | 55 |
Manchester City | 30 | 15 | 6 | 9 | 51 |
West Ham | 30 | 13 | 11 | 6 | 50 |
Manchester United | 30 | 14 | 8 | 8 | 50 |
Leicester City

Remaining matches: Southampton (home), Sunderland (away), West Ham (home), Swansea (home), Manchester United (away), Everton (home), Chelsea (away)
Those last three games have been referred to since Leicester confirmed its title credentials around Christmas as potentially dictating who hoists the Premier League trophy. Chelsea, who features in three of the current top fours' remaining fixtures, can take maximum points from those meetings but it might not matter for the Foxes. A clean bill of health helped by no extra-curricular activities outside of league duty could see the title wrapped up by then, courtesy of the second-worst record in 24 years of Premier League - only worsened by Manchester United's 1996-97 triumph. - Daniel Rouse
Predicted point total: 78
Tottenham
Remaining matches: Liverpool (away), Manchester United (home), Stoke (away), West Brom (home), Chelsea (away), Southampton (home), Newcastle (away)
Famous for bottling it down the stretch, Tottenham is faced with its best title prospects since 1986-87's third-place finish. Unlike Spurs sides of the past, Mauricio Pochettino's lot seem cut from a different cloth, with a spine of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, and Toby Alderweireld providing the north Londoners with the resolve necessary to win the league.
Standing in its way is a tricky final seven fixtures, with matches against Chelsea, United, Liverpool, and an ever-unenviable trip to Stoke City notable as potential obstacles. - Michael Chandler
Predicted point total: 75
Arsenal
Remaining matches: Watford (home), West Ham (away), Crystal Palace (home), West Brom (home), Sunderland (away), Norwich (home), Manchester City (away), Aston Villa (home)
Last season, Arsenal won its final eight matches on the bounce to finish third, 12 points adrift of Chelsea. If Arsene Wenger's lot replicate that run paired with a few hiccups along the Foxes' path, the Gunners could hoist their first league trophy since 2003-04.
While the odds of that are slim to none, if Arsenal can't catch Leicester, it can take solace in potentially finishing ahead of rivals Tottenham for the umpteenth time on the trot. Trips to West Ham and Manchester City stand out among a straightforward run-in, with Arsenal holding a game in hand on the two teams above it. - MC
Predicted point total: 74
Manchester City

Remaining matches: Bournemouth (away), West Brom (home), Chelsea (away), Newcastle (away), Stoke (home), Southampton (away), Arsenal (home), Swansea (away)
An ease back into action for the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Joe Hart, Fabian Delph, and Samir Nasri against Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion will be scuppered by an away trip to Chelsea, just days after potential elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain. At least 15 points are certainly achievable from this run-in though, and that should be enough to secure a top-four berth for incoming manager Pep Guardiola. - DR
Predicted point total: 68
West Ham

Remaining matches: Crystal Palace (home), Arsenal (home), Leicester (away), Watford (home), West Brom (away), Swansea (home), Manchester United (home), Stoke (away)
West Ham United's only additional shifts until mid-May could be FA Cup duty, but that could be costly. A quarter-final replay against Manchester United drops between the Arsenal and Leicester matches - certainly not convenient timing - but a spot in the final or not, five of its last eight are certainly winnable. If the Hammers stay in the mix, the penultimate bout with United could be huge. - DR
Predicted point total: 65
Manchester United
Remaining matches: Everton (home), Tottenham (away), Aston Villa (home), Crystal Palace (home), Leicester (home), Norwich (away), West Ham (away), Bournemouth (home)
Matches at home to Everton and Leicester paired with visits to Tottenham and West Ham add up to a challenging fixture list for a club desperate for Champions League football.
With a rash of injuries prompting the use of previously-unknown youngsters and just one victory in its last five matches in all comps - the Manchester Derby no less - United may very well lament consecutive league losses in December. Defeats to Bournemouth, Norwich, and Stoke City will be rued when the club's travel secretary is booking Europa League flights to Bucharest and Bratislava in a few month's time. - MC
Predicted point total: 63
