Muller: Guardiola said 'he'd cut our balls off' if we lost to Juventus

Quite the Pep talk.

Thomas Muller shared some of the wise words given by Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola before extra time of Wednesday's thrilling 6-4 aggregate win over Juventus.

"He told us that he'd cut our balls off," Muller said after the enthralling comeback was capped off in the additional 30 minutes. "Of course, there are a lot of emotions. I wouldn't be any different as a coach. We wanted to play for the third goal, because we still had energy left in us."

The Bavarian giant was trailing 2-0 at halftime courtesy of strikes from Juve's Paul Pogba and Juan Cuadrado - making it 4-2 on aggregate to the visitor - but Muller's injury-time header added to Robert Lewandowski's tally earlier in the second stanza to take the tie into extra time.

"It wasn't going according to plan," Muller added. "It was a crazy match. It was weird. I didn't see much of the ball because Juve defended very deep. We didn't defend very well when we conceded the two goals."

The exceptional turnaround was completed by well-worked efforts from Thiago Alcantara and Bayern loanee Kingsley Coman, who cruelly scored against his parent club and put Der FCB's progression into the Champions League quarter-finals beyond doubt.

"It was an incredible night. Maybe this binds us together even more," club captain Philipp Lahm reflected.

Bayern will learn of its opponent in the last-eight in Friday's draw. Victory in the competition would mean a sixth European title, leaving it third behind Real Madrid, a 10-time winner, and AC Milan, who's hoisted the trophy seven times.
