Gibson exits Bulls' loss to Wizards due to hamstring

David Banks / USA Today Sports

Taj Gibson's hamstring has been giving him trouble for a while now, and on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards it forced the Chicago Bulls big man out of action. Gibson left after the first half and did not return to Chicago's 117-96 loss.

The Bulls will monitor the situation closely given how badly banged up they are, especially in the frontcourt. Pau Gasol did not accompany the team on its current two-game road swing due to knee swelling and could be out longer. Joakim Noah is done for the season, and Nikola Mirotic is only five games removed from a prolonged absence due to an emergency appendectomy.

"My hamstring was killing me tonight," Gibson told reporters after Monday's win over the Toronto Raptors, in which he played 35 minutes. "But I should be fine, some ice and some rest. I can't rest right now."

Banged up or not, the Bulls are facing crunch time down the stretch. With Wednesday's defeat, they have lost seven of their last 10 games.
