Report: Arsenal's Oxlade-Chamberlain wards off City advances

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is committed to Arsenal amid the apparent interest from incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola's reported meeting Monday with City's director of football Txiki Begiristain has flooded British newspapers with transfer tales, and Oxlade-Chamberlain is one name featured prominently on the Spaniard's alleged wishlist.

But the England international has no interest in leaving the Emirates Stadium, preferring to continue to develop under the watch of veteran gaffer Arsene Wenger, according to the Evening Standard's James Olley.

The 23-year-old still has two years remaining on his deal, and although sidelined with a knee injury, has been regularly deployed in Wenger's lineup this season.

Should the backpage babble be believed, other players expected to transfer to Eastlands include Borussia Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan, FC Schalke 04's Leroy Sane, and various defenders as Guardiola looks to shake things up when he succeeds Manuel Pellegrini in July.

Arsenal and City are locked in a title battle but find themselves some way short of league-leading Leicester City. The former is eight points off the pace and the latter 10 points short, albeit with a game in hand.
