St-Pierre's coach responds to Nate Diaz challenge: 'Let me see what I can do'

Georges St-Pierre was in the building for UFC 196, and his team was paying close attention to Nate Diaz.

Fighting at 170 pounds for the first time in almost five years, Diaz submitted featherweight champion Conor McGregor (also fighting up in weight) in the second round of Saturday's main event to propel himself into mainstream relevancy.

A week prior to the fight, Diaz told BJPenn.com that he spoke to UFC president Dana White about fighting "GSP" should the retired fighter return to the cage. Nothing came of the request at the time, but St-Pierre's coach, Firas Zahabi, addressed the challenge and Diaz's momentous win in a tweet Tuesday:

Rumors of a St-Pierre comeback are constantly swirling, but the welterweight great has given no assurances he'll return to the sport.

A fight with St-Pierre would suit Diaz from a financial, competitive, and personal perspective. His brother Nick lost a unanimous decision to St-Pierre in a title fight at UFC 158 in March 2013.
