The New York Giants are preparing to make a huge investment in cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

When the team signs the former Los Angeles Rams defender at the start of free agency Wednesday, it's expected to be a five-year, $62.5-million contract, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Jenkins is reportedly set to receive $30 million in guaranteed money, a source told Mike Garafolo of FOXSports.

The 27-year-old hit the open market after the Rams opted to use the franchise tag on fellow cornerback Trumaine Johnson.

Los Angeles were still expected to push to re-sign Jenkins, but it appears they may have been priced out of contention by the Giants, who will make him one of the highest-paid players at his position.

A second-round pick in 2012, Jenkins has spent his entire four-year career with the Rams. He has 257 tackles, 10 interceptions, and 48 passes defensed in 60 games.
