Corey Anderson grinds out win over Tom Lawlor
Once Corey Anderson got over being rocked, he showed off the skills that have him pegged as a prospect at 205.
"Filthy" Tom Lawlor had Anderson on wobbly legs in the first when he clipped him with a solid right hand. Anderson bought himself enough time to recover and by the end of the first he looked like he hadn't lost too much spring in his step.
The second frame was more competitive, with Lawlor head hunting and Anderson responding with volume striking. It wasn't until the third round that Anderson clearly pulled ahead, using his superior wrestling to get the first takedown of the fight.
From there, Anderson stayed in top control until referee John McCarthy stood them up. Lawlor ran out of time to get the finish he needed and Anderson took the unanimous decision.
The win was not without controversy as the judges issued a pair of 30-27 scores that seemed strange considering Anderson was visibly hurt in the opening period:

Regardless, the win improves Anderson's record to 5-1 in the UFC.
