Coaches believe UCLA's Jack could play up to 5 positions
UCLA's Myles Jack is one of the most dynamic and versatile prospects in the 2016 NFL Draft, and after meeting with him at the combine, some coaches believe Jack can play "about five" different positions, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
The concept is nothing new for Jack: While he was always officially listed as a linebacker at UCLA, Jack also spent time at running back, safety, and cornerback in college. He was both the Pac-12's Freshman Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.
Jack has been widely projected as a linebacker by NFL teams, but could play almost anywhere in the defense. Jack told NFL Network at the combine that each team has a different role for him, varying from safety to inside linebacker to playing off the edge.
One NFC executive told NFL.com that he believes Jack would be best suited to play the weak side linebacker in a 4-3 defense and be free to chase the ball and cover.
At 6-foot-1 and 245 pounds, Jack's sized himself out of playing cornerback in the NFL, and he's admitted to never practicing at running back - but the other positions aren't out of the question.
Jack suffered a season-ending meniscus injury in practice last September and only participated in the bench press at the scouting combine, but he expects to be medically cleared by his March 15th pro day so he can show scouts how versatile he can be.
