Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones recently confirmed cornerback Brandon Carr could become a cap casualty, and now it appears the team might go through with his release.

Barring a pay cut, Carr is expected to be released by the Cowboys, two league sources told Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports. A source also identified a potential replacement: Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones.

The Cowboys are familiar with "Pacman," as he spent the 2008 season with the team. He was limited to nine games that year due to injury and sat out the following season after being released, but was able to revive his career in Cincinnati.

The 32-year-old and his agent, Peter Schaffer, were at a steakhouse in Indianapolis on the Friday of the NFL Scouting Combine, the same night Cowboys ownership and personnel executives dined there, according to Robinson. Adam and Schaffer reportedly exchanged pleasantries with Stephen before leaving the restaurant.

The Cowboys are currently about $14 million under the salary cap, and could create another $6.4 million in space by cutting Carr before June 1.
