Muhammad Wilkerson will reportedly be back in green and white for the 2016 season.
The New York Jets will be placing the franchise tag on the defensive lineman ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline, according to NFL Network's Kimberly Jones.
Under the tag, Wilkerson would be owed $15.7 million in salary for 2016. The two sides can continue negotiating a long-term deal until July 15.
Wilkerson, the 30th-overall pick of the 2011 draft, registered 64 tackles and a career-high 12.5 sacks last season.
