Juventus exec fears Real Madrid will buy back Alvaro Morata

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has echoed the fears of many Bianconeri supporters in expressing his concern that Real Madrid will activate Alvaro Morata's buy-back clause this summer.

Morata, who joined the four-time defending Scudetto holders from Real in 2014 on a five-year deal for €22 million, had a clause attached to his sale that gives the Spanish giants the option to buy back the 23-year-old striker.

The clause features a fee of €35 million if Los Blancos wanted to reacquire the services of the six-time capped Spanish international this summer.

Marotta told Italian TV show "Domenica Sportiva" that he fears Real could again turn its attention toward Morata in the summer.

"Real Madrid could see themselves obliged to repurchase the player, but in reality they might do it without having any sporting interest in Morata," he said, courtesy of ESPN FC.

"We hope he is not repurchased to immediately make a profit on him. They would be within their rights. There is a time frame to do that, and we don't know if it will happen or not."

Speculation concerning Morata's future comes after the forward extended his contract in Torino until 2020, though an underwhelming campaign paired with Juve boss Max Allegri's preference for Mario Mandzukic could help Real's cause.

Morata was brilliant last year during his maiden season with La Vecchia Signora, scoring 13 goals across all competitions, including a pivotal finish in the Champions League semifinal victory over Real.

The Spaniard's 2015-16 campaign has been anything but straightforward, with Morata claiming only five goals in 31 appearances while fighting for time among the likes of Mandzukic, Simone Zaza, and Paulo Dybala.
