Report: Dos Anjos withdraws from UFC 196 vs. McGregor after foot injury
Rafael dos Anjos has withdrawn from his UFC 196 fight against Conor McGregor scheduled for March 5, reports Ariel Helwani of MMAfighting.com, citing multiple sources.
Dos Anjos reportedly suffered a broken foot last week, forcing him to back out less than two weeks before the lightweight title match.
Though the UFC has not yet announced a replacement for the main-event fight with McGregor, the search is already thought to be underway.
Before Dos Anjos' reported withdrawal, Jose Aldo was the most recent opponent to pull out of a tilt with McGregor, doing so prior to the featherweight title fight at UFC 189 due to a rib injury.
McGregor would go on to earn the interim belt with a TKO win over Aldo's late replacement, Chad Mendes. The Irishman later took the official title from Aldo at UFC 194, coming away with a knockout just 13 seconds in.
