Houston nabs Abdoulie Mansally from Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake

Abdoulie Mansally is trading the West Coast for the Third Coast, with the Houston Dynamo trading a conditional third-round draft pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft to Real Salt Lake for the versatile Gambian international.

The Dynamo will be Mansally's third MLS side, with his tenure at Real preceded by five-and-a-half seasons with the New England Revolution.

"We would like to thank Abdoulie for everything he has done on and off the field during his time with Real Salt Lake and wish him nothing but the best through the next stages of his career," Salt Lake general manager Craig Waibel told the club's website Thursday.

Mansally's best season came in 2015, where he logged 1,310 minutes while starting 14 matches for Real - both personal highs during his time at the Rio Tinto Stadium.

Mansally was also noted for his work in the community, both in Utah and his native Gambia. The Mansally Foundation raised money for children in the tiny West African nation, twice winning the club's Jordan Guernsey Humanitarian of the Year in 2014 and 2015.
