After sputtering to the league's worst record, the Tennessee Titans are in need of a drastic overhaul to their offense, and head coach Mike Mularkey may possess the answer.

Mularkey, who was retained as the Titans' head coach in January, said that he plans to install an aggressive, physical offense that he dubbed "exotic smashmouth."

"(Opponents) are going to know we are going to be very hard to defend, and it is going to be a physical football game," Mularkey said to season-ticket holders via the Titans' official website. "When it is all said and done they are going to know they have been in a fight."

With quarterback Marcus Mariota proving that he's the face of the franchise in his first year, the Titans could be on their way to ascending from the AFC South basement. However, the Titans will need to upgrade at a number of positions in order to rise from mediocrity.

"This place was a tough place to play, and that's (what) we want," Mularkey said. “We want this place to be a place where when people come in here they better have their big-boy pads on."

Tennessee is in need of major changes, and Mularkey's plan may be the first piece to fall in line.
