Report: Kevin Martin hopes to be traded to winning team

Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin hopes to be traded to a winning team, Yahoo's Marc Spears reports, citing a source.

Martin believes he's served his role as a seasoned veteran mentoring the Timberwolves' young players, and feels his trade request should be honored.

The 12-year veteran is averaging 11.3 points and two rebounds in 22.6 minutes per game. He's shooting a robust 36.4 percent from deep, and is a proven scorer that could presumably help a contender.

However, Martin's owed $7.1 million this season and holds a pricey $7.4-million player option for 2016-17, so finding a taker for Martin's guaranteed contract could be difficult.
