No timetable for Ginobili's return but 'the ugliest part is over'

Manu Ginobili is resting up after undergoing surgery for a cringeworthy injury, and he's unsure of when he'll be able to get back on the court.

"There is no (timetable)," the San Antonio Spurs guard wrote in Argentine newspaper La Nacion, as translated by the San Antonio Express-News.

Ginobili, who suffered a testicular injury in a collision with New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson on Feb. 3, added that he's back to being in "good humor" after days of dealing with "much pain, much trouble, and everything you can imagine" following a "delicate and invasive" procedure.

"The first days were in bed completely … and with a fairly significant discomfort," Ginobili wrote.

The 38-year-old was enjoying another terrific campaign before Anderson's knee caught him in the groin, averaging 18.3 points, six assists, and two steals per 36 minutes, with the third-best real plus-minus among NBA shooting guards and the fifth-best net rating in the league.

When Ginobili underwent surgery 10 days ago, the expectation was he'd miss at least a month.

"Luckily," he said, "the ugliest part is over."
