Flames' Gaudreau, Monahan step up after being scratched for tardiness

Candice Ward / USA TODAY Sports

Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan did well to get back in their coach's good graces.

After Calgary Flames bench boss Bob Hartley scratched the team's top two scorers, along with forward Lance Bouma, against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday for showing up late to practice Monday, Gaudreau and Monahan responded against the San Jose Sharks.

The two combined for a goal and two assists, as the Flames downed the Sharks 6-5 in a shootout.

With Gaudreau's two assists and Monahan's goal, the two now lead the Flames with 51 and 36 points, respectively.
