Report: Bengals' Burfict, Goodell meet to address on-field behavior

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict met Thursday with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to address his recent on-field behavior, reports Dan Graziano of ESPN.

The meeting, according to Graziano's report, came at the request of Burfict.

Burfict received a three-game suspension after a violent hit to the head of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown in the wild-card round of this year's playoffs.

The penalty was reportedly upheld by the league Thursday following an appeal, confirming that the 25-year-old will sit out the first three weeks of the 2016 regular season and surrender a reported $502,941 in salary.

Burfict also received a $50,000 fine for a cheap shot on Baltimore Ravens tight end Maxx Williams in Week 17, and a fine of more than $69,000 for multiple infractions in an earlier regular-season matchup with the Steelers.
