The 2016-17 season will be the final year the Detroit Red Wings play at Joe Louis Arena. On Thursday, the team announced plans for the "Farewell Season at The Joe."

The team unveiled a commemorative logo for the season-long celebration to be worn on all team jerseys next season.

"The Joe will always hold a special place in our hearts," said Tom Wilson, president and CEO of Olympia Entertainment. "Our fans will never forget the championships won on the ice and witnessing once-in-a-lifetime performances on the stage."

The team also announced celebrations honoring its alumni, the franchise's championship seasons, and the biggest games held at The Joe.

After moving from the Olympia in 1979, the Red Wings won four of the franchise's 11 Stanley Cup titles at Joe Louis Arena. The team is currently looking to reach the playoffs for the 25th consecutive year - the longest active streak among NHL, NFL, NBA, and MLB teams.
