The midweek match in Rome was halted by referee Massimiliano Irrati for three minutes as Koulibaly was serenaded with a chorus of monkey chants by Lazio supporters. The towering defender applauded the referee's decision.

While the majority of Napoli fans in attendance at the Stadio San Paolo were united in their support, a handful of I Ciucciarelli faithful appear to have missed the point of the display of solidarity.
