Saturday's Goaltender Value Rankings

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's goaltender value rankings for Saturday's 12-game slate.

Value Rankings
C | W | D | G

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Semyon Varlamov (COL) vs. WPG 9
Cam Talbot (EDM) at MON 8
James Reimer (TOR) at OTT 8
Braden Holtby (WAS) at NJ 7
Henrik Lundqvist (NYR) at PHI 7

Varlamov is likely to surprise many being number one. But factors in his favor include: home ice, a palatable salary and four straight wins, only allowing a single goal in each of those contests.

Reimer and Talbot provide cheap options with strong matchups. While the teams in front of them are volatile, they are both legitimate options in net Saturday night.

Holtby and Lundqvist would fall further if it weren't for their enviable matchups. Both have underperformed of late and could fail to deliver on their big price tags. Tread carefully.

Best of the Rest

Name Opponent Value
Petr Mrazek (DET) vs. NYI 6
Brian Elliott (STL) vs. MIN 6
Tuukka Rask (BOS) vs. BUF 6
Roberto Luongo (FLA) vs. PIT 6
Cory Schneider (NJ) vs. WAS 5
Corey Crawford (CHI) at DAL 5
Martin Jones (SJ) at NSH 5
Robin Lehner (BUF) at BOS 5
Marc-Andre Fleury (PIT) at FLA 5
Jaroslav Halak (NYI) at DET 5

Elliot goes up against Minnesota, who are 1-8-1 in their last ten. He isn't likely to post a shutout, but he should get the win.

Luongo, Scheneider, and Crawford all fall as they go against offensive talent like Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, and Tyler Seguin.

Jones has allowed three goals in three of his past five starts. On the other hand, he only surrendered one goal in those other two games. He is strictly a GPP play.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Michael Hutchinson (WPG) at COL 4
Ryan Miller (VAN) vs. CGY 4
Pekka Rinne (NSH) vs. SJ 4
Karri Ramo (CGY) at VAN 3
Ben Scrivens (MON) vs. EDM 3
Steve Mason (PHI) vs. NYR 3
Antti Niemi (DAL) vs. CHI 3
Craig Anderson (OTT) vs. TOR 2
Devan Dubnyk (MIN) at STL 2

Plenty of goalies to avoid on Saturday's big slate. Spend up and don't be tempted by this pool of inadequacy.

Miller and Ramo square off in Vancouver with neither being too appealing. Miller gets the advantage with home ice and the Flames having gone 3-6-1 in their last ten.
