Fellaini desperate to start scoring for Manchester United again

The sight of Marouane Fellaini rising above defences to nod home a goal became a familiar sight over his five years with Everton, but the Belgian has struggled to replicate that for Manchester United recently.

His two tallies reflect the collective struggles his side has had in front of goal this term, but he aims to help in that department a little more, perhaps spurred on by United's vastly improved performance in the 3-0 dismissal of Stoke City on Wednesday.

"It's always good to score but, this season, I have missed a lot," he told Mark Froggatt of the United Review. "I have created a lot of chances but I have always hit the post or there were great saves from the goalkeepers."

The Belgian bagged 40 goals in 166 appearances during his stint on Merseyside - highly commendable for a player initially recognised as a defensive midfielder - and now looks to learn and benefit from the crosses delivered by assistant boss and club legend Ryan Giggs and other wide men in training.

"Yes, sometimes we do that in training and sometimes with Giggsy as well as the other players," he said. "They cross the ball for me to finish off."

Fellaini last scored in a 2-1 loss at Bournemouth in December and hopes to be handed an opportunity to get back in the goals in Sunday's trip to Chelsea.

"I know it is coming though because, OK, the luck can resolve itself. In the last few games, I've had the chance to score but the keeper is there or he makes a great save," he said. "That's football as well but I hope the luck turns. I know it is coming."
