VIDEO: Curry drains 7 threes in 1st quarter vs. Wizards

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

Stephen Curry finished the first quarter of Wednesday's game against the Washington Wizards with as many points as LeBron James averages on the season.

No. 30 nearly matched his jersey number with 25 points in the first frame.

Most impressive, however, was how deadly he was from beyond the arc - "Chef Curry" went 7-for-8 in the first 12 minutes of the game.

One of his treys - his sixth of seven, to be precise - came as the result of some rather pesky defense.

If Curry stays hot for the remainder of the contest - and assuming Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr decides to keep his prized point guard on the floor in a potential blowout - he would be on pace to match the late, great Wilt Chamberlain's single-game scoring record.
