Report: Manning has told friends he expects to retire after Super Bowl

Peyton Manning has told close friends he expects Super Bowl 50 to be his final game, Ian Rapoport said during an appearance on NFL Network's "Super Bowl Live" on Monday.

"The reality is (Manning) let the cat out of the bag a little bit telling Bill Belichick this may be his last rodeo," Rapoport said. "I also know he has told close friends that he expects this to be his last game as well."

It's widely believed Manning wants to walk into the sunset as a champion, but it appears he may also be at peace with leaving the game following a third career Super Bowl loss.

It's possible Manning will make a formal announcement about his future before Sunday's game - perhaps at Monday's Super Bowl Opening Night event, during which he will undoubtedly be asked about his plans for the future.
