Report: Colts confident about reaching extension with Andrew Luck in offseason
The Indianapolis Colts believe they can reach a contract extension with franchise quarterback Andrew Luck in the offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Luck is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2016 season, and is owed $16.1 million for the upcoming campaign.
It is widely expected that the Colts will make Luck the highest-paid player in the NFL with the impending extension.
Luck was selected first overall in 2012 out of Stanford and was the most-hyped prospect since his predecessor, Peyton Manning.
The 26-year-old was named to three consecutive Pro Bowls to begin his career. However, Luck is coming off an injury-riddled 2015 season where he missed nine games due to shoulder, abdominal, and kidney injuries.
Easily the most important player in the Colts' organization, it's imperative that the Indianapolis reaches an extension with Luck sooner than later.
