Fabio Quagliarella is going back to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Sampdoria announced the loan signing of the veteran Italian striker Monday, bringing aboard the 33-year-old from Torino in a deal that includes a mandatory clause to make the transfer permanent.

Quagliarella, who scored five goals in 16 appearances for Torino this season, will rejoin a club with whom he found the net 14 times in 2006-07.

"Quagliarella picked up 42 appearances and 14 goals in competitive fixtures during his first spell at the club in 2006-07 and has opted to wear shirt No.27," Sampdoria announced in a brief statement.
