Fort Worth police were called to the scene after Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel and a woman identifying herself as his ex-girlfriend had an altercation early Saturday morning.

Manziel was questioned by police but no arrests were made.

A statement released by the police says they were called at around 2 a.m. local time to respond to a possible assault. Upon arriving at the scene, they encountered an unnamed 23-year-old woman who said she was involved in a disturbance, but she was uncooperative with officers. Police were unable to determine if a crime had occurred.

The woman expressed concern for the welfare of Manziel and police eventually determined he was in no danger.

The investigation into whether a crime occurred is ongoing.

This isn't the first time an incident between Manziel and a romantic partner has led to police involvement. Manziel and Colleen Crowley were questioned in October after witnesses reported seeing them fighting in a car. Crowley told police Manziel pressed her head against the vehicle's window, but no arrests were made.

It's unclear if this latest incident involves Crowley.

Manziel was benched by the Browns late in the season after repeated instances in which he appeared to be drinking alcohol in photos and videos posted online. Reports suggested he lied to the team.

New Browns head coach Hue Jackson is reportedly intent on parting ways with Manziel, but recently revealed he has yet to speak with him about the matter.
