Major League Soccer has lost one of its most gifted goal scorers, as Hungarian international Krisztian Nemeth joins Qatari top-flight side Al-Gharafa from Sporting Kansas City.

Nemeth, 27, appeared in 28 matches for Sporting last season following a three-year spell with Dutch side Roda JC, scoring 10 goals for one the league's original 10 franchises.

The 23-time capped Magyar was named Sporting's Newcomer of the Year in 2015, becoming the first player from the club to win the MLS Goal of the Year award for an outstanding solo effort against the Portland Timbers on Oct. 3.

"We wish Krisztian the best of luck and thank him for his valuable contributions to the club," manager Peter Vermes told the club's website.

"He is a talented player who made tremendous strides last year, including helping us win the (Lamar Hunt) U.S. Open Cup."

Per MLS policy, Sporting receives two-thirds of the transfer fee, with the move opening a Salary Budget Player slot and an international spot on the roster.
