With eyes on a title-chasing campaign, table-toppers Leicester City has reportedly placed a €16-million offer for AC Milan's young attacking midfielder M'Baye Niang that has been rejected by the Rossoneri.
Leicester's attempts to lure the 21-year-old Caen academy product to the King Power Stadium before the transfer window closes in three days has been denied by AC Milan, according to a report from The Guardian's Ed Aarons.
Looking to add attackers to complement the tandem of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, Leicester's efforts to sign Sampdoria striker Eder have failed, as the club turn to Niang as a second option.
"Milan don't want to sell M'Baye because they have a lot of confidence in him," the player's agent told The Guardian.
"He is doing well and everything is good for him in Italy so they have rejected the interest. It's good for him that English clubs are taking an interest in his career but at the moment he is happy to stay."
A symbol of a promising rebirth for the once-elite Milan, Niang has been a revelation this season, with two goals and three assists in 10 league matches paired with three tallies in four Coppa Italia matches for Sinisa Mihajlovic's squad.
Niang is under contract with Milan until 2019, after joining the club in 2012 from the Normandie minnows.
