Counterattack - Friday's Top Contrarian Plays

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

Here are the top contrarian plays for Friday, Jan. 29:

PG Reggie Jackson, Pistons (vs. Cavaliers)

Jackson isn't known as a pure scorer, but has now posted back-to-back 25+ point nights with a combined seven assists while returning major value onhis modest price tag.

Many DFS players will fade Jackson due to his matchup against Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers' daunting defense. But Jackson should feed plenty of passes to big man Andre Drummond, presenting a solid opportunity at a double-double.

SG Andrew Wiggins, Timberwolves (at Jazz)

Utah has seen its defense languish following a hot start to the season; the team is now allowing opponents to shoot nearly 45 percent from the field.

Wiggins has proven he will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future, though he doesn't fill the stat sheet enough to be considered a must-start.

He should see a low ownership percentage based on the combination of a Jazz defense allowing 96.6 points per game and Wiggins having rarely returned big value despite his reasonable salary.

SF Trevor Ariza, Rockets (at Thunder)

After starting the season with one of the league's worst defenses, the Thunder have inched closer to becoming a dominant defensive force - holding opponents to 45.3 percent shooting.

Ariza has reached double figures in points in three straight games, but was held to eight points Wednesday against the Spurs. That said, he's on fire from beyond the arc, shooting 16-for-25 over the last four games.

PF Serge Ibaka, Thunder (vs. Rockets)

Ibaka's price is fluctuating as much as his shot has.

Despite the game against the Knicks where he recorded 17 rebounds and 12 points, he has mostly failed to return value, scaring many owners who have shares tied into him.

That said, he plays in an explosive offense and will seek to look to break through in a plum matchup against the Rockets and their staggering 106.1 points allowed per game.

C Andre Drummond, Pistons (at Cavaliers)

Drummond is a fantasy juggernaut and garners a pile of attention whenever he steps on the court.

He continues to accumulate double-doubles at will, averaging 17.3 points and a league-best 15.2 rebounds - making him a lock to start in almost every fantasy format.

Last time he clashed with Cleveland, he grabbed 18 boards while scoring 25 points with ease, returning his surprisingly economical price.
