Thrice constitutes a trend.
For the third straight month, the New York Knicks' Kristaps Porzingis and the Minnesota Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively.
No other rookies have captured the monthly NBA award, which began with games played in late October and November.
Porzingis ranked fourth among all rookies in scoring (15.3 points per game) and second in rebounding (7.2) in the month of January, while Towns was the only first-year player to average a double-double in games during the month, with 16.9 points and 10.9 rebounds - tops among rookies.
In a Jan. 20 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, Towns finished with 27 points, 17 rebounds, and six blocks.
