Meet the Prospects: Elliott, Henry stand out atop RB class

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Get to know all the top prospects for the 2016 NFL Draft, most of whom will be taking the field at the NFL Scouting Combine on Feb. 23-29 in Indianapolis.

Top prospects by position:

Running Backs

Ezekiel Elliott, Ohio State

Height: 6'0"
Weight: 225 lbs.
Age: 20

2015 stats: 1,821 rushing yards, 23 TDs

Elliott cemented his status as the top running back prospect in the 2016 draft with 363 rushing yards and six touchdowns over his last two collegiate games. His well-rounded game helped lead the Buckeyes to a national championship during his sophomore season and a bowl victory over Notre Dame in 2015. It's Elliott and then everyone else at this point.

Derrick Henry, Alabama

Height: 6'2"
Weight: 242 lbs.
Age: 21

2015 stats: 2,219 rushing yards, 28 TDs

The Heisman Trophy winner will follow the recent tradition of highly-drafted Alabama running backs, bringing his powerful style to the NFL after taking the college world by storm in his junior season. At his size, Henry doesn't compare to many NFL running backs, so he'll need to prove his speed and lateral quickness at the combine to secure a first-round selection.

Paul Perkins, UCLA

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 210 lbs.
Age: 21

2015 stats: 1,343 rushing yards, 14 TDs

Perkins proved his consistency as a redshirt junior, and possesses the kind of skill set NFL offenses would like to incorporate into a backfield rotation. In UCLA's spread offense, Perkins excelled with patience and an ability to exploit open holes.

Devontae Booker, Utah

Height: 5'11"
Weight: 212 lbs.
Age: 23

2015 stats: 1,261 rushing yards, 11 TDs

Booker was a junior college transfer who had to wait a season to get on the field at Utah due to academic reasons. Once he did, though, Booker's multi-faceted game was put on display, as his production in both the run and pass game set him apart from other running backs in this class.

Alex Collins, Arkansas

Height: 5'11"
Weight: 218 lbs.
Age: 21

2015 stats: 1,577 rushing yards, 20 TDs

The Arkansas product was a workhorse for the Razorbacks, racking up 475 carries in the last two seasons. Collins will look for contact and also has the quickness to make cuts inside the tackles. His persistence is also a major asset for a runner that lacks top-end speed.

Kenyan Drake, Alabama

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 210 lbs.
Age: 22

2015 stats: 408 rushing yards, 1 TD, 276 receiving yards, 1 TD

Derrick Henry's backup has the elusiveness and speed that will make him a coveted weapon in the draft. His durability may limit his production, but he should fit into an NFL backfield as a passing down weapon next season.

C.J. Prosise, Notre Dame

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 220 lbs.
Age: 21

2015 stats: 1,032 rushing yards, 11 TDs, 308 receiving yards, 1 TD

In his first full-time season as a running back, Prosise came out of nowhere to rack up 1,000-plus rushing yards and prove himself as an athletic asset to any offense. His transition to the next level may be tough, but he could project as one of the best runners in this class two years from now.

Kenneth Dixon, Louisiana Tech

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 215 lbs.
Age: 22

2015 stats: 1,070 rushing yards, 19 TDs, 467 receiving yards, 7 TDs

The Bulldogs' all-time leading rusher will have to rely on his vision and toughness at the next level. His production was steady but dropped off slightly during his senior year. He'll have to overachieve at the combine to be assured of a Day 2 draft position.
