Former Texas Tech QB Davis Webb to transfer to Colorado for 2016 season
Big news for Colorado on Wednesday as Texas Tech graduate transfer quarterback Davis Webb will play the 2016 season with the Buffaloes.
"I just know it's a good fit with Colorado," Webb told Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports. "I really like what Coach Mac (Mike MacIntyre) and Coach (Brian) Lindgren are doing with the offense. I like that they are scheduled to play eight preseason Top 25 teams. I'll have a good chance to showcase my ability on the road at Oregon and at Michigan. I will get plenty of exposure to pursue my dream of playing in the NFL."
Webb's decision couldn't have happened at a better time for the program, as starting pivot Sefo Liufau is expected to miss the entire 2016 campaign with a Lisfranc injury.
The Texas native was scheduled to make a visit to Auburn this coming weekend, but has canceled after picking Colorado for his final collegiate stop. He starred for the Red Raiders before losing his position to Patrick Mahomes due to injury. Over his career in the Big 12, Webb threw for 5,557 yards and 46 touchdowns.
As mentioned by Webb, a major part in this decision was the national exposure he will receive to build his 2017 NFL Draft prospects. The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder is considered by former coach Kliff Kingsbury as a talent worthy of a "top-five pick."
