Milan - Inter Milan has moved to snap up Brazil-born Italy international Eder by virtually matching an offer tabled by Premier League leaders Leicester City, reports said Wednesday.

Reports in England claim the agents of Eder, who has hit 12 goals for Sampdoria so far this season, are poring over the details of a three-year deal from the Foxes after the Italian club accepted an offer of around £10 million ($14 million, €13.2 million).

But Turin-based sports daily Tuttosport claim Inter has since offered €13 million to secure the striker's services, adding that Eder could be tempted to the San Siro because of "good relations" between the Italian clubs.

Earlier, former Inter president Massimo Moratti called on Inter to sign Eder to help end the club's goals drought.

"I think the problem at Inter is their lack of goals and for me, Eder is the right player for the team," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He's a great player who guarantees you a certain amount of goals."

Asked if Eder was preferable to Paris Saint-Germain striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, who is also a reported target for the club, he added: "I think so, even though I haven't seen the Argentinian (Lavezzi) for quite awhile. I think he (Eder) would be the perfect player for Mancini."

Mancini's men have tumbled from top spot to fourth in Serie A to sit six points behind leaders Napoli.

Mancini hit out at his goal-shy forwards, including Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi and on-loan Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic, following a 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Carpi last weekend.

"We're creating the chances, but we need to be more intelligent in the way we deal with them and finish them off, otherwise it becomes a problem," Mancini said.

"I'm 50 years old, and even I would have scored from some of the chances we had."
