Rays linked to trade talks for Rockies' Dickerson

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Rays may be interested in acquiring one of four outfielders from the surplus the Colorado Rockies currently possess.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports the Rays are being linked to Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson.

After the Rockies signed outfielder Gerardo Parra to a three-year contract on Jan. 12, speculation - which had been heavy during the offseason - continued surrounding the surplus of outfielders the club possessed, with Carlos Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon also being named in potential trades.

Rosenthal writes that Dickerson, the youngest and most controllable of the Rockies outfielders, might bring less of a return than Blackmon, who has more of an established career.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times speculates that Rays reliever Jake McGee could be involved in a deal for Dickerson.

Dickerson, 26, had a breakout campaign in 2014, hitting .312/.364/.567 with 24 home runs, 76 RBIs, and 27 doubles, but only appeared in 65 games last season due to plantar fasciitis, as well as two fractured ribs.

In 2015, the outfielder slashed .304/.333/.536 with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs across 234 plate appearances.
