Eintracht Frankfurt star Alexander Meier rejects Chinese club's offer

In-form Eintracht Frankfurt striker Alexander Meier has revealed that he turned down a €7-million offer from an unnamed Chinese side.

The developing trend in world football of players moving to cash-rich China during the transfer window has become a popular choice, though Meier insists he is happy to stay in Germany.

"It's true, there was an offer," Meier told Bild. "And I have chatted to (Frankfurt CEO Heribert) Bruchhagen and the coach (Armin Veh), but after about one minute it was off the table."

With 111 goals for Frankfurt since joining the Hessen side in 2004, the 33-year-old Meier can now focus solely on the remaining year-and-a-half left on his deal with the club.

Meier is currently enjoying the spell of a lifetime, scoring his second hat trick of the Bundesliga season on Sunday in a 3-2 victory over Wolfsburg. The Hamburg academy product has 10 goals in 14 top-flight matches, and is looking to surpass his career-best and league-leading total of 19 from last season.
