5-star DT Edward Oliver could be a game-changer for Houston
Landing a top-five recruit is almost unheard of for a team outside the Power 5, so Tom Herman is proving his worth by convincing five-star defensive tackle Edward Oliver to come to Houston.
The Houston native is the No. 4 rated prospect on ESPN's 300 and opted to play in his hometown by committing to the Cougars back in may, ultimately passing on offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and several others.
Oliver has a rare mix of size and strength, making him an imposing force for opposing offensive lines to deal with and has a knack for disrupting plays before they start.
The future looks bright for Herman and the Cougars after a 13-1 season that culminated in a Peach Bowl victory over Florida State. And with the addition of Oliver, Houston should be aiming higher in 2016.
