Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri was not suspended, but was fined $5,000 for his throat-slash gesture during Tuesday's game against the Calgary Flames, the league announced Thursday.

It is the maximum allowable fine under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Kadri directed the gesture toward Flames captain Mark Giordano after the defenseman leveled him with an open-ice hit.
