Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward has been placed on injured reserve with a concussion, general manager Ron Francis announced Wednesday.
Concurrently, the team has recalled Daniel Altshuller from the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.
Ward last appeared in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Jan. 16, stopping 19 of 22 shots while playing all 63:25.
The lion's share of the starts will now presumably fall on the shoulders of Eddie Lack, who's posted a record of 6-8-3 with a .891 save percentage for a Hurricanes team that sits three points out of a wild-card spot.
Ward's set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.
