Lightning suspend Drouin for failing to report to AHL game

The Jonathan Drouin saga took another turn Wednesday as the Tampa Bay Lightning suspended the forward indefinitely without pay for failing to show up to that evening's AHL game between the Syracuse Crunch and Toronto Marlies.

"The team will make no further comment at this time," the Lightning said in a release announcing the suspension.

Drouin's agent Allan Walsh wrote, "There is no reason for Jonathan to continue with the Tampa Bay Lightning organization in any capacity" in a statement following the suspension:

Drouin took part in morning skate in Toronto, but was not present for the pregame warmup.

The 20-year-old has been front and center in trade speculation since Walsh went public with a trade request following his client's demotion to the AHL.

He has recorded just three points in seven games for the Crunch after collecting two goals and six assists in 19 games for the Lightning earlier this season.
