Lentz responds to callout from 'impulsive tyrant' Penn with vicious letter

Nik Lentz wants to welcome B.J. Penn back to the Octagon on his terms.

With Penn announcing a return to action after a near two-year layoff, Lentz is determined to dictate the terms of their confrontation should it become official.

"The Carny" addressed a multitude of issues that he has with Penn in a strongly worded letter delivered to MMAFighting.com, starting with what weight they should meet at.

"I'm never competing at 145 ever again. Neither should you," Lentz wrote. "I came to this conclusion after doing careful research, and deciding what was right for my long-term health as well as my short-term performance. If you fight at 145, it won't be long before you're eating banana mush in a nuthouse. I am accountable to my family, and my future with them.

"Because you are an impulsive tyrant surrounded by yes-men, you have no ability to make rational, intelligent decisions. So I am making this one for you. If we fight, it would be at 155."

In his last appearance, Penn fought at featherweight for the first time in his career and he looked slow and sluggish in a loss to Frankie Edgar. Lentz also had a recent stint at featherweight where he went 4-2.

Lentz went on to demand that the fight occur later than the March 5 date that Penn had proposed and that Penn donate $22,000 to the Hawaii Dog Foundation. That amount is allegedly what Penn owes nutritionist Mike Dolce, a good friend of Lentz's who butted heads with Penn when the two worked together.

The letter concludes with Lentz mocking Penn's new alliance with famed trainer Greg Jackson.

"You can go to Greg Jackson's, you can go to Jermaine Jackson's, you can listen to Mahalia Jackson, you can resurrect Jackson fuckin' POLLOCK to paint you a better picture of yourself than the one we all see; but ...

"You're an unclaimed, busted-down suitcase on a dusty shelf in an abandoned bus-terminal. Accept my conditions, or rot in obscurity."
