Report: Baron Davis close to signing on with D-League

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Former NBA All-Star Baron Davis has signed with the NBA Development League, according to Upside & Motor's Chris Reichert.

Davis will be placed into the D-League's waiver process for teams to claim.

The 36-year-old last played an NBA game in 2012 with the New York Knicks. He said he was planning a comeback attempt last summer, not long after lighting up the Drew League in his native Los Angeles.

The 6-foot-3 point guard averaged 16.1 points and 7.2 assists over 13 NBA seasons, and was named an All-Star in 2002 and 2004 with the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets.

He's dabbled in producing and acting in the interim, most recently making a bizarre cameo in "Joe Dirt 2."
