The Philadelphia Union announced the acquisition of winger Walter Restrepo from the New York Cosmos on Tuesday, sending midfielder Michael Lahoud out on loan to the NASL side as well.

"Part of our ongoing assessment has been to build quality depth in certain areas and we strongly believe Walter can give us the kind of speed and attacking ability on the wing that we're looking for," Union sporting director Earnie Stewart said in a statement. "We know Michael will represent our club in a professional manner and we wish him the best of luck on a successful season."

Restrepo, 27, makes the jump up to MLS after spending the last decade in the lower divisions of U.S. soccer. He has featured for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers as well as the San Antonio Scorpions and the Cosmos.

As for Lahoud, the former Chivas USA midfielder spent the last four years with the Philadelphia Union, making 58 appearances with one assist to his name.
