Report: Giants grant 49ers permission to interview Tom Coughlin
Tom Coughlin's list of suitors grows by the day, with the San Francisco 49ers the latest team to request an interview with the 69-year-old.
The 49ers have reportedly been granted permission by the New York Giants to interview Coughlin for their vacant head coaching position, according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.
Teams still require the consent of the Giants to interview Coughlin because he resigned from his position, meaning New York still holds his rights.
Coughlin parted ways with the Giants after 12 seasons, but indicated that he is still open to continuing his coaching career. While he struggled to find success recently, missing the playoffs in each of the last four seasons, Coughlin is easily the most experienced coach on the market, with two Super Bowl trophies under his belt.
The Giants also gave their permission for the Philadelphia Eagles to interview Coughlin. Their meeting is scheduled for Monday.
