Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has moved to halt the spate of rumours linking wantaway Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato to the Merseyside club.

Pato, who has admitted his interest in joining a Premier League club, is reportedly looking for a route back to Europe after scoring 26 goals on loan at Sao Paulo in 2015.

Klopp, however, didn't buy into the speculation when asked about the Brazilian's availability.

"My private advice to you is don't follow the Pato path any longer," the German told reporters Monday.

Pato returned to Corinthians following his loan spell, and has one year left on his contract. In an interview with British media in December, he confirmed that he would like a "new challenge."

The player added, "I want to write a new story in Europe, to make a new history. I want to come to win the championship and play again in the Champions League. I have dreams again."

Pato first moved to Europe as an 18-year-old, signing with AC Milan from Internacional in 2007. He immediately sprung on the scene, and ended up scoring more than 50 goals for the Rossoneri before succumbing to various muscular injuries.
