Report: Chiefs sign Demetrius Harris to 3-year extension

The Kansas City Chiefs signed tight end Demetrius Harris to a three-year contract extension, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Terms of the deal were not officially disclosed, but Rapoport says the extension is worth up to $6.3 million.

Harris caught seven passes for 74 yards and a touchdown in 16 games.

The Chiefs tight end was slated to become an exclusive-rights free agent in 2016, which would've seen him receive the league's minimum salary on a one-year contract.

Harris played collegiate basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, switching sports after scouts noted his raw speed and athleticism.

Primarily serving as Travis Kelce's backup, Harris may see a larger role in the team's offense if he continues to play well during the postseason.
