Report: D.C. United picks up Patrick Nyarko in trade with Chicago Fire

Reuters

D.C. United has reportedly acquired veteran winger Patrick Nyarko from the Chicago Fire in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, according to Steven Goff of the Washington Post.

Nyarko was once renowned for his speed but the 29-year-old has struggled with injuries in the past two seasons, having made just 19 appearances last season. He would join a D.C. United side looking for new wide players, having traded away Chris Pontius to the Philadelphia Union back in December.

Nyarko hasn't had the best of luck involving D.C. United, though - he suffered an ACL injury in a match against the club back near the end of the 2014 season. The Ghanaian would be competing with fellow winger Lamar Neagle for a starting spot out wide, as the former Seattle Sounders man joined D.C. United this offseason as well.
