Jaguars GM 'anticipates changes' to defensive coaching staff
The Jacksonville Jaguars may be shaking things up on the defensive side of the ball.
Head coach Gus Bradley, who served as defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks before joining the Jaguars, said Monday that he'll consider taking over defensive play-calling duties from defensive coordinator Bob Babich next season.
"We'll look at it as we put it all together and see," Bradley said, according to Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union. "That's (one of) the things I think (will be determined) as I gather information and (figure out), 'Where is it at?' I think the obligation is (to) do what's best for this organization. That's why I really want to gather all the information, see what's best and go from there."
General manager David Caldwell said Tuesday that he would endorse Bradley calling plays, then took it one step further, telling reporters he "anticipates changes" to the defensive coaching staff.
"We feel like it's easier to fix a defense than an offense," he said, adding: "It's not like we don't have any pieces. We have a mountain of cap space and eight draft picks."
The Jaguars used the No. 3 overall selection in the 2015 draft on defensive end Dante Fowler, but a torn ACL forced him to sit out his rookie season.
