Browns' Haslam hints at replacing Manziel: 'We do have the 2nd pick in the draft'

The Cleveland Browns wasted no time firing general manager Ray Farmer and head coach Mike Pettine after their season ended, but the issue of what to do with quarterback Johnny Manziel still looms.

Team owner Jimmy Haslam admitted Sunday that he was unsure of Manziel's whereabouts after he skipped concussion treatment, and was noncommittal when asked if he wants the second-year quarterback on the team next season.

"It will be up to the coaches, and Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi (Brown) and the GM as to who's on the team,'' Haslam said, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports. "They will make those calls.''

Haslam also hinted that Manziel may have worn out his welcome in Cleveland, agreeing with left tackle Joe Thomas' statement that quarterback is the most important position on the team.

"I don't think there is anything that compares to it in professional sports in terms of importance to a team,'' he said. "Joe has been around the game. He's smart. He's exactly right.

"We do have the second pick in the draft."

Reports emerged Sunday that Manziel was spotted in a Las Vegas casino over the weekend, something Haslam could neither confirm nor deny.

Manziel completed 129-of-223 passes for 1,500 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions in nine games this season, including six starts.
