The New Orleans Saints won't consider allowing head coach Sean Payton to leave for another team unless they receive a second-round draft pick from that team as compensation, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Coaching trades are possible but very rare in the NFL. The last time such a deal occurred was 2002, when the Oakland Raiders sent head coach Jon Gruden to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for two first-round draft picks, two second-round draft picks and cash. Gruden went on to win a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers.
Payton has a Super Bowl win on his resume, but is coming off consecutive losing seasons in the Bayou.
